About Great Lakes Express

Welcome aboard Great Lakes Express.  Our airline was started in 1998 by Chuck King as part of the Voyager Airlines Group of companies.  Great Lakes Express now operates under a private owner, not a corporation and therefore the future can be controlled based on financial progress.  The new GLE operates under the VAFS financial tracking system which tracks our pilot reports and financial data.

About the new owner Paul R. Herman.  Paul has been in the virtual airline business for over ten years starting and successfully operating two major airlines including Premier Airways.  Great Lakes Express is a special airline to Paul Herman as it is the very first airline Paul Herman ever flew for and has been pursuing the airline for many years.  What you can expect from Paul at the helm is consistent professional service, dedication to our pilots and staff and continued opportunity for expansion.

Great Lakes Express currently operates from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport offering regional flights to destinations throughout the Midwest.  If you are a pilot looking for short flights in smaller aircraft GLE is the right airline for you.  We will offer flights with an average flight time of one hour, after all the most exiting part of flying is the take off and landing… right?

Our routes are designed like no other airline on the net.  Once you leave the hub in the morning you will not return until the end of the day.  In other words you consistently fly to different destinations on every single flight, more variety on every flight.

The Great Lakes Express fleet promises to bring you your favorite modern turbine and turbo prop aircraft from free-ware to pay-ware varieties.  When the time comes we will add aircraft based on a simple set of criteria including a series of financial goals.

We don’t just fly for hours.  Great Lakes Express has moved to a new real-world financial system to track all aspects of the airline.  What this means is we do not grow unless we are growing financially.  GLE makes money with a very simple concept. Fly more flights.  There will be goals defined on a monthly basis and those goals that are achieved are rewarded with new aircraft and new routes.  It is a uphill battle every month but it gives us a purpose besides racking up hours.
